John Deere recently announced a series of enhancements coming to its model year 2026 combines, focusing on automation and efficiency. These updates are designed to help farmers navigate diverse harvesting conditions with less manual intervention while providing real-time insights to improve productivity.

Advanced Harvest Automation

The 2026 John Deere combines will introduce refinements to the harvest automation system that make it easier for operators to maintain efficiency in changing field conditions.

One of the key updates is an improvement to Predictive Ground Speed Automation, which was first introduced in 2025 models. The system uses stereo cameras and satellite data to assess crop variability ahead of the combine and calibrate speed accordingly.

For 2026, new enhancements will allow the combine to automatically adjust speed in challenging terrains like waterways and terraces. Additionally, cab-mounted cameras will now detect weed patches, enabling the system to slow down when encountering dense areas to prevent clogging.

Harvest Settings Automation is also getting an upgrade. The feature, which automatically configures combine settings based on crop type and location, will now include an out-of-crop adjustment. This ensures better grain retention when moving through previously harvested areas, keeping the tank sample cleaner.

Productivity-Boosting Features

The new combines will also incorporate tools that simplify harvesting for both experienced and newer operators.

AutoTrac™ Turn Automation is being improved to raise and lower the combine head automatically at specific field triggers. This hands-free system enhances accuracy, particularly in low-visibility conditions like nighttime harvesting or dusty environments.

Unloading grain carts—a frequent and often stressful task—will also become more efficient. A new auto-unload camera, mounted to the auger, will monitor grain fill levels and send real-time commands to adjust tractor positioning. The update aims to ensure even cart distribution while minimizing the risk of spillage.

Smarter Data and Connectivity

John Deere is expanding its data-driven insights to help farmers make better real-time decisions.

The John Deere Operations Center will now feature grain harvest weight sharing, which provides a live view of the weight of grain in combines and carts across an operation. This helps operators position carts more effectively, reducing idle time. Additionally, the HarvestLab™ 3000 system will be available on more models, offering real-time analysis of crop moisture, protein, starch, and oil content.

To further support seamless data access in the field, John Deere’s JDLink® Boost™ satellite connectivity solution enables real-time machine and field data sharing, ensuring reliable transmission even in areas with low connectivity.

Additional Operator Comfort Enhancements

John Deere is also making improvements inside the cab. A new instructor seat with a larger, more comfortable design will be included in all 2026 models. For added convenience, a dual USB-C charging module will be available, enabling faster charging for multiple devices.
